Air Pollution in Delhi is a big concern, here is some tips to survive air pollution.
Delhi Air Pollution

A dense toxic smog in New Delhi blocks out the sun. In November 2018, Delhi's chief minister described the city as a "gas chamber".

The air quality in Delhi, the capital of India, according to a WHO survey of 1600 world cities, is the worst of any major city in the world. Air pollution in India is estimated to kill 1.5 million people every year; it is the fifth largest killer in India. India has the world's highest death rate from chronic respiratory diseases and asthma, according to the WHO. In Delhi, poor quality air irreversibly damages the lungs of 2.2 million or 50 percent of all children.
India's Ministry of Earth Sciences published a research paper in October 2018 attributing almost 41% of PM2.5 air pollution in Delhi to vehicular emissions, 21.5% to dust and 18% to industries. The director of Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) alleged that the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) is lobbying "against the report" because it is "inconvenient" to the automobile industry.

How Can You Stay Safe From Air Pollution

N95 Pollution Mask

With rising levels of air pollution in Delhi, it is imperative we follow an action plan to stay safe, while also doing our bit to not contribute to air pollution.

Here are a few measures and steps you can take to make breathing easier in the smog-laden air of Delhi:

  1. Wear Pollution Masks
An ideal pollution mask must have a carbon filter, an exhaust valve, and a filter higher than N95. While buying the mask, ensure it fits perfectly and limit outdoor activities. Here's what you need to know about choosing the right pollution mask for yourself.
  1. Use Air Purifiers

Air purifiers can filter the air and minimize the number of pollutants you breathe in. The better the quality of your air filter, the purer will be your final product.
Air Purifying plants such as Aloe Vera, Ivy and Spider Plant can be placed in the home and offices. They help purify indoor air and minimize indoor pollution.
  1. Avoid Exercising Outdoors
Air pollution

Step out and you are exposed to PM 2.5 and PM 10, carbon monoxide and other harmful greenhouse gasses at their worst.
Pollution masks have become an absolute necessity.
"As we speak, the Indian Medical Association is drafting an emergency advisory recommending limiting outdoor activity and wearing pollution masks at all times," says Gupta.
About the quality, he says that any mask without a minimum N95 filter -- which filters PM 2.5 at 95 per cent down to 0.3 microns -- is a piece of cloth.
In addition, an ideal mask, he says, must have a carbon filter and an exhaust valve.
"While buying a mask, one has to ensure that it fits perfectly on the face. A slight gap and the mask is a waste. But it also has to be comfortable for a person to be able to wear for long durations," Gupta said.
He also insists that the air quality in Delhi and cities in the Indo-gigantic plain is so bad that one should opt for a N99 filter pollution mask -- which filters PM 2.5 at 99 per cent down to 0.3 microns -- to be safe.

  1. Reduce Indoor Air Pollution

Use energy efficiently, try not to dust your floors frequently during winters (dust from the floor rises up, adding to your respiratory discomfort), and segregate your waste. Follow the 3 R's of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle to do your bit to curb air pollution levels in Delhi.

5.    Take steam daily

Daily Steam

Try to take steam with a few drops of eucalyptus oil every day in the evening to relax your air-passages and help your body remove the harmful particulate substances.

  1. Diet Overhaul
To overcome pollution from your body, this is very impotant to take care of your diet and take heathly food there is some of them which is very good to flush out pollutants from your body :

Jaggery to detoxify
Eat jaggery (aka gudd) to flush out pollutants from your lungs. You can simply have it raw or replace it with sugar in your daily preparations.

Vitamin c

Diet rich in vitamin C, omega fatty acids

Consume fruits rich in Vitamin C, Magnesium and foods rich in Omega Fatty Acids. A healthy diet will help you beat the ill effects of pollution by keeping your immunity up.

Herbal tea
Have herbal ginger and tulsi tea. Having this healthy concoction once or twice a day is extremely healthy for minimizing pollution effects!
  1. Drink Water
drinking more water is always a good idea to remove toxins from your body. Stay hydrated!!!!!!

  1. Eye take care
Wear sunglasses while outdoors. Avoid wearing contact lens and eye makeup if your eyes are feeling sore. ... For proper eye care, install a high quality air filter or air purifier system at home to help protect your eyes from various diseases caused by air pollution.

 9. Consult Your Doctor
Consult doctor

Get yourself checked if you experience symptoms like:
1.         Difficulty breathing (especially if you have a respiratory illness)
2.       Increased heart rate (especially if you have a heart condition)
3.       Burning eyes
4.       Headaches and fatigue

Apart from the above mentioned, some other steps you can take are:

5.       Opting for public transport or carpooling,
6.       Using more CNG, and
7.       Keeping your vehicles’ pollution levels in check

Changes need to begin at home, especially when the consequences are dire. As citizens of the country, we should pledge to not only keep the air around us clean and healthy but also do our bit for the greater good of the environment and our future generations.
